Make the World Understand You – Our New Facebook Contest

October 15, 2010

The objective of a professional translation is to convey a message as if it had been created in the target language. Unfortunately, unprofessional work sometimes yields inaccurate translations that give place to funny or unintended meanings. Have you seen one of those in one of your travels? Is there one in your neighborhood? Did you find a worth-to-share image while surfing the web? Send it to us! We want to see it! And believe us — you want to share it! Why? Because by doing so you have the opportunity to win The new iPod Nano with Multi-Touch! In order to participate in our facebook contest, please do the following:

1)      Take a picture of a funny sign, notice or translation. 2)      Send the picture and corresponding information to between October 15, 2010 and January 15, 2011. You should include the following information:

  1. What, were, when: [example:-  Road Sign in Wales (2010)]
  2. Language pair: [example: English into Welsh]
  3. Sender and nationality: [example: Andrea Nino from Colombia]
  4. Email address: [example:]
  5. Comment: [example: Welsh actually reads “I am not in the office at the moment. Please send any work to be translated.” Oopsy! someone failed to realize the reply was an automatic out-of-office response! ]

3)      Translation Source will typically publish your picture within 72 hours. We reserve the right not to publish material we consider inappropriate. 4)      The winner will be the most popular picture as measured by the number of  “iLikes”. In order to “iLike” the picture, you have to be a fan of Translation Source’s facebook page. 5)      Translation Source will contact the winner by January 20, 2011. We will send you your iPod nano via mail, no matter where in the world! It is that simple. Feel free to invite your friends and help us enjoy our linguistic differences. Understand the world. Make the world understand you! Win an iPod Nano! GALLERY
